At the meeting in question, an agreement was also reached on the Foundation's work with the pediatric teams at the emergency hospital. We did not intend to announce the project so early, but it is necessary because the photo is being used for speculation and insinuations that would only have a damaging effect on trust, which is not beneficial to any participant in the healthcare system.

During this meeting with the hospital management, we discussed the need to introduce therapeutic communication training for ALL pediatric teams in the hospital – an issue that is extremely important in the long term.

 

The topic was accepted with understanding, and from our side, we are about to present a specific plan for how the training can be structured and implemented in practice - because communication with patients and parents is not a detail, but an essential part of caring for the patient and his family.

This is a process in which we have the opportunity and privilege to meet young doctors who bring real change from within. Some of these people, representatives of the team of Pediatric Surgery in Pirogov, went through the first class of the "Therapeutic Communication" training, and today they actively apply what they have learned in their practice.

 

And the moment has come when we can implement a very important step in the Foundation's activities - the first-of-its-kind "Balint Group" for pediatricians, which will launch on April 3 and has been planned for more than a month.

 

Balint groups are structured meetings of medical professionals, in which, through discussion of real cases, skills for understanding the emotional doctor-patient relationship are developed and communication in care is improved. Doctors like the young Pediatricians in Pirogov give us reason to believe that change is possible – not from the outside, but from the inside.

We can boldly say that something we have dreamed of for years is about to happen, and it is happening in a medical institution of immense importance. The topic of the importance of therapeutic communication is being raised in Pirogov!

 

Our foundation is working hard on the topic of therapeutic communication between medical teams and patients and their families, and we believe that the desire of hospital management to actively participate in such initiatives should be supported by the non-governmental sector.
