It's June 1 again, Children's Day. Actress Albena Pavlova joined the initiative of the "For the Good" Foundation and read fairy tales to the children-patients at the specialized pediatric hospital "Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev". Imagine the clouds magically disappearing from the sky and the sun rising. This is exactly how joy returned to the faces of the children in the hospital.
We started a campaign to provide tablets for hospital wards so that every child can listen to stories and songs. The environment heals, the opportunity for children to have fun and learn is part of the healing environment.
Audiobook and e-book app Storytel joined in on the idea by donating several one-month subscriptions to parents and child patients to make their hospital stay a little easier.
"For the Good" Foundation donated 10 tablets for the children-patients in the capital pediatrics "Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev". Free apps for children's movies and music are available on every device to make hospital stays easier for children.
The tablets will be kept at the reception and parents will be able to take them for temporary use. We will place a sticker in each hospital room with information on where and how they can get the mobile devices. Half of them were provided with the support of Lenovo-Bulgaria, and the rest were purchased by the foundation.
We also gave the hospital team 15 vouchers donated by the Storytel audiobook app. 15 parents will receive one month of free access to the audio library for themselves and their child. Children's titles include The Two Kingdoms, The Fairy and the Sugar Bowl, We Sparrows, Jan Bibian on the Moon.
This is how we begin the "Tale of Healing" campaign - a step towards creating a healing environment in which the child does not feel isolated and deprived of his usual activities.
The initiative was announced on June 1, Children's Day. Then the actress Albena Pavlova read live in the hospital the first fairy tale about the recovery of the little patients.
A series of books is about to be created, which with short texts and funny illustrations tell children why it is necessary to take their temperature, why they prick their finger for blood or what the stethoscope is for, for example. When he is sick, the child is afraid of everything unfamiliar that happens to him. With these short stories, we want to help him understand what the doctors are doing to overcome the stress that makes his recovery even more difficult.
With the "Tale of recovery" campaign, together with the director of pediatrics Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov, we are starting to change the attitude towards child patients, so that they fully participate in the treatment process and receive the warmth and empathy they need .
Thank you for supporting the team at the audiobook app Storytel and Lenovo Bulgaria.
