This is how Project #Za Dobroto began - with the renovation of the nephrology department of the SBAL for Children's Diseases "Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev" in the capital. Kremena Kuneva enters the ward with her child and enters a nightmare.
They cut the stickers into pieces - the consumables are not enough. No soap and disinfectants. The condition of the department is destitution. Amazing doctors work in this environment, Prof. Gaidarova's team. But they cannot provide basic necessities for the children. A nurse breaks down in tears as she recounts how staff went on strike a few months ago for a few hours over treatment and working conditions - nobody paid any attention to them.
Kremena shares her experience on Facebook and starts a campaign on her own. Both donors and volunteers respond. A refreshing renovation of the department follows. For a major repair, the time of 2 weeks is not enough.
A few girls, great artists, paint the walls of the ward. It's as if you're not in a hospital, but in a fairy tale - this is part of the child's recovery, Kremena says.
