Official position of the For Good Foundation
‼️According to a study by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (2024), child mortality in Bulgaria is 1.5 times higher than the average for Europe – 3 out of 1,000 children in our country, compared to 2 out of 1,000 in neighboring countries. The reasons are preventable.
In the last two months, the For Good Foundation has sent over 10 official letters to the Ministry of Health, the Health Commission and all parliamentary groups with a proposal to develop a National Program for Improving the Environment in Children's Departments. We received only one response and one promise of a meeting.
Today, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria approved the allocation of BGN 15 million for a salary increase in public transport.
This is exactly the amount that, according to our expert assessment, is needed for a one-time renovation of all remaining children's wards in the regional hospitals.
⚠️ There is a shortage of specialists in the country - only 5 pediatric rheumatologists and 10 gastroenterologists.
⚠️ Over 70% of pediatricians and nurses are over 60 years old.
⚠️ Departments are closing due to lack of staff and functional conditions.
We expect the same expediency from the government when we submit a request for funding for the child health program.
‼️⚠️The children can't wait.
