The Fund for the Children of Heroes provides grants of 500 leva monthly/6000 leva yearly to children of doctors, medical workers and teachers who passed away due to Covid-19.
The Fund was created during the second wave of the pandemic when tens of doctors, medical workers and teachers lost their lives. They continued their medical and educational work despite the threat to their health. They left their children and their children lost a parent.
The grants are our way of saying „thank you“ for these parents’ sacrifice. While they can’t bring any consolation they can offer support to families. These funds can help bereaved children to continue learning and developing.

At the end of 2021 there are 26 recipients aged 3 to 17 years old. They’ll receive grants until they reach 18 or complete their high school education.
There will be annual campaigns to gather funds until all impacted children become of age. We have a long way to go.
The children’s documents are reviewed and approved by a public council in accordance to a procedure agreed by the Fund. The council consists of the Fund’s founders, public figures and benefactors representatives.
The campaign is partnered are the National Municipalities’ Association in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Hospital Association.
The Bulgarian National Radio, the health platform CredoWeb.bg, newspapers 24 Chasa & Sega, websites Manager.bg, Sega.bg, MediaCafe.bg are media partners.
The Fund was founded with the help of Petar Velkov, a teacher and the BCause Foundation: Helping Charity. We are supported by the organizations Gorata.bg, Caps for Future, First Line as well as benefactors and volunteers.
