This campaign doesn't look like closing soon. Poli Troyanova, as always, has managed to transform a bad experience into something positive. Poli says that venoscopes are needed: „I spend a lot of time in a hospital with my youngest son, who is 1 year old. Finding a child's vein is no easy task. After a several unsuccessful attempts the child feels stressed and in pain. So are its parents. The procedure, which can sometimes be critical can get delayed with all associated risks. A venoscope can find children's veins much more easier than an experienced professional can. It's a high-end medical equipment working with infrared light. Small veins are visible on a monitor and the medical professional can assess which vein to use for a cannula or another procedure, rather than make a best guess. When we left the hospital the venoscope stayed on my mind. And so in an interview with Victoria...

Za Dobroto Foundation donated 10 tablets for the pediatric patients in SBAL Children's Hospital „Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev“. Each device has free applications for children’s movies and music installed in order to make the little patients’ stay in the hospital easier. The tablets will be kept at the hospital’s reception desk and each parent can borrow them for a temporary use. We will place a sticker with information about the location and procedure for obtaining the mobile devices in each hospital room. Half of these devices were acquired with the support of Lenovo Bulgaria, the rest were purchased by the Foundation. We passed to the hospital staff 15 vouchers donated by the audiobooks application Storytel. 15 parents will receive a one-month free access to the audio library for their children and themselves. Among the children’s titles are “The two towers”, “The fairy from the sugar bowl”, “Nie vrabchetata” (“We, the Sparrows”), “Yan...

"My name is Lora. I was hospitalized there with my daughter some time back. I lived in a true nightmare. I don't wish it to anyone. It was like a true prison, like in a horror movie. Squalor, leaking pipes and sinks where you wash your feet together with your hands. The toilet door was not closing and everyone was looking at you. There were bars on the windows - like in prison. And they told us this was the "best room in the department". This is one of the many stories we received. One of many mothers who share about their stay in children's hospital departments. Lora's child. Ani's child. Joro's child. Our child. Your child. Bulgarian children. Bulgarian children are being treated in hospital departments that do not adhere to any standards. Not today's standards, or the ones 50 years ago, there are no standards at all! Departments are full...

26 children whose world has turned upside down by the death of a parent. Some of them lost both their parents. These are the children of our Fund. Every month we provide grants of 500 BGN ( 6000 BGN per child on a yearly basis) in order to minimize material worries, but mostly so they don't feel alone after the untimely death of a parent. Their mothers and fathers, who are teachers, doctors and medical workers, cared for all of us during the initial waves of the pandemic and lost their lives as a result. This Fund is our way to thank them and honor their memory and commitment. During the last 12 months the Fund became a cause for a lot of contributors. It hasn't been easy to raise funds for the grants. It will not be easy in the coming years until the children become of...

Thеse pictures are taken by parents of sick children in the children's departments of different hospitals in Bulgaria in 2021. If you are shocked by the images, it means that you are normal and emotional people. We arranged thеse photos in an exhibition held in front of the "Ivan Vazov" National Theater to take a stand and say "no more". No more parents agonizing in the squalor of Bulgarian hospitals. No more government, municipalities, and hospital owners pretending they do not see and do not understand - they have a responsibility for the health of children. We begin the change called "Firefly" to show the government and municipalities what is their duty in regards to children healthcare. And to support doctors and medical personnel who, as well as parents, want normal conditions for the children in hospitals. Support us! [FinalTilesGallery id="18"]...

The 'Za Dobroto' Foundation has started the #Children's Hospitals in Bulgaria 2021 campaign in the month prior to the local government elections. Its aim is to draw attention on the inhuman conditions in the children's hospital units. The pictures and the parents' first-hand experience stories and their children's nightmares are a mirror in which politicians need to take a look. We want more people to see the state of children's hospital wards in an EU country in the 21st century. We want everyone who was in government in the past 30 years to feel ashamed. We want to rally our society to apply pressure on the parliament and the executive government until our children receive modern healthcare in a fit environment and with proper care. We are initiating the campaign in the elections' month precisely because children's healthcare is absent from election programs and platforms of all the parties and coalitions which,...

Today is November 3rd, 2021 and the Children of Heroes Fund offers monthly grants to 25 children of medical workers and educators who died in the pandemic.
