On November 28 and 29, the last lectures of the first postgraduate qualification in Therapeutic Communication in Pediatrics in Bulgaria were held, established by the For Good Foundation and the New Bulgarian University (School of Professional and Continuing Education (UPPO)) in partnership with the SBAL of Pediatrics "Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev" and the Bulgarian Pediatric Association.
The program, which includes 60 academic hours of theory and practice, is the first in our country dedicated to the skills of professional, empathetic and therapeutic communication between healthcare professionals, child patients and their families. It aims to improve children's hospital stays, reduce stress, fear and uncertainty and help build trust in the treatment process.
This week, the first 30 specialists in the country – pediatricians, nurses, psychologists, speech therapists and social workers, who were accepted through the scholarship program of the For Good Foundation and NBU – completed their training.
„"...I am extremely impressed by the lecturers! Not only professionals, but also people with big hearts and minds, who were there for us and our questions at every moment!" - shared a participant in the training in the surveys.
„"I really like the opportunity for active involvement by the participants. I hope you have the desire and opportunity to implement the course, in this form (method of presentation and lecturers) in the Medical University program!" - another opinion of a graduate.
On November 28, the participants went through their last thematic modules, and at 4 p.m. an official presentation of the certificates to the graduates took place at NBU.
The event is an important step towards the development of professional standards in pediatric practice and the building of a sustainable environment to support child health.
On the final day – Saturday (November 29), the program continued with case studies and practical mastery of the material, as well as a test on the content covered.
The training is part of the "Academy for Therapeutic Communication in Healthcare" initiative, through which the For Good Foundation works to create sustainable change in the attitude towards children in hospital environments. The project is based on many years of work with pediatric departments, research, focus groups and collaboration with leading experts.
„"Our goal is to change not only the conditions, but also how the child feels during treatment. Words, attitude and empathy are key to recovery," the team emphasizes.
