Last night we were at a PROTEST. And we will continue to be, as long as necessary! In front of the Courthouse stood the true civil society. We stood, alongside young doctors, parents, lawyers, students, people who after work have chosen not to remain silent in front of the screen, but to take to the streets.
We were there too. Not because the Foundation "has anything to do with justice," but because no cause, including children's healthcare, can survive in a country without justice.
There is no trust in the healthcare system when there is no trust in the judiciary. There can be no quality child healthcare when there is no control over the distribution of funds.
Today, the healthcare budget has increased to 5.5 billion euros for 2026, and the children's wards are the ones in the picture. And we cannot agree with that.
Today we must remember what unification of civil society means – not to remain indifferent:
- Be part of the civic initiative FOR a real children's hospital and to show that the National Children's Hospital is a cause of the citizens. It is our achievement and the fact that today we have three strategic documents developed by international experts is a real success. Now again, it is in our hands to demand that this hospital BE FULFILLED WITH CONTENT – to have a new model of children's healthcare, in which the child patient is at the center, there are enough doctors and nurses who work in a modern way and provide the best care, both for the physical and emotional condition of the children.
- To choose to act when you see that nothing is happening!
- Support the protest of young doctors, even if you are not a doctor!
- Sign a petition for insulin pumps, even if your child is healthy!
- To share the story of the miserable conditions in a children's ward, even if your child wasn't lying there!
Every day, with our small decisions, we either preserve the status quo or shake it up.
Going to a protest on Wednesday night after work is not just a choice, it is a responsibility to the children of Bulgaria, who cannot be a leading figure in the child mortality statistics in the EU!
