This Sunday, as is tradition, hundreds of people gathered for the celebration of US Independence Day, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria.
The atmosphere, as always, was festive, with music, smiles, flags, and good cheer. But for us – and for many of the guests – there was something more: the feeling that goodness has its place there!
For the third consecutive year, AmCham has chosen to support the For Good Foundation as an official cause of the event. In 2025, the focus shifts from the “environment” to the “people” within it. With the creation of the first postgraduate program in therapeutic communication in pediatrics in Bulgaria, efforts are directed towards improving the way children, their families and medical professionals communicate during treatment.
By supporting this initiative, the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria demonstrates its commitment to sustainable change in pediatric healthcare for the third consecutive year. Its support contributes to the creation of a healing environment that impacts not only through renewed spaces and light, but also through words, empathy, and human presence.
This is precisely what Svilena Georgieva, Deputy Chairwoman of the Foundation, emphasized from the stage.
#ForGoodShe thanked those present on behalf of every sick child who visits a renovated ward, on behalf of every mother who now has the comforts of a stay, and on behalf of every doctor who never even dreamed of working in such conditions.
Of course, she recalled the children's ward in Dobrich, renovated with the help of donations from the previous edition of the event, and proudly shared that it was this project that won the international architectural award BIG SEE AWARD.
"Today, when some are trying to import doctors for $500 each, we are doing everything possible to keep Bulgarian doctors here,"
, added Svilena and promised to share results from the current Firefly projects next year.
And do you know what was the best part? Many of the guests already knew us! They knew "Firefly", they remembered the children's drawings on the walls, they remembered the smiles of the doctors, they were eagerly waiting for us to tell them more about the past year!
We heard words that filled our hearts: "We are from Dobrich! Thank you for what you have done!"; "I have decided to become a doctor and your work inspires me a lot! I want to participate!"; "We support you every year and we will not stop". This is the power of sustainable support. The power of being recognized! To be part of something bigger, to know that you are on the right path, because more and more people are walking with you.
Thank you, AmCham, for your continued support and empathy! For the fact that when you talk about us, you talk as if you are part of the foundation. Thank you for being on one team!
