Meeting with the future doctors of Bulgaria

For Good Foundation participated in the International Congress of Medical Sciences – ICMS, organized by the Association of Medical Students in Bulgaria – Sofia (ASMB-Sofia). We thank you for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of this inspiring forum of knowledge and ideas.

The workshop "The Power of Healing Spaces & Words: Transforming Children's Healthcare", led by our Chair Nadezhda Rangelova, brought together young medical professionals with ideas, energy and heart. A special guest of the session was Ivanka Tsankova, Program Director at the America for Bulgaria Foundation, our long-time partner and Diamond Sponsor of the congress.

The workshop was fully interactive, with inspiring questions and lively discussions. The students showed maturity, openness and sensitivity to topics that often remain on the periphery of medical education – but are at the heart of children's healthcare.

We discussed three key topics:

Healing Spaces – the hospital as a space of safety, not fear. How hospital design can reduce stress and improve health outcomes. The “hospital that doesn’t look like a hospital” approach
Therapeutic Communication (Healing Words) – the power of words when working with children and parents. How improved communication leads to: better collaboration, reduced anxiety and increased trust.
Empathy (Humanizing Healthcare Through Empathy) – not just a quality, but a necessity in care.

What's coming up?

The students were also presented with the Strategy for transforming the Firefly project into a National Campaign for the Modernization of 22 Pediatric Departments in Bulgaria – one of the Foundation's major goals. And very soon, an even larger initiative dedicated to therapeutic communication is coming.

A mission with a future

The most inspiring thing about that day was to see young people who are looking not only for knowledge, but also for meaning. Who want to be not just good doctors, but good people – dedicated, empathetic, engaged.
